Vespa the travelling cat

Travelling with your pet can be quite challenging especially when going overseas.  In order to bring Shelby, my tiny chihuahua, to Europe, she had to be microchipped and then re-vaccinated for rabies. It was imperative that she be microchipped before being vaccinated.  A special form had to be filled out by the veterinarian, and then stamped...

Lupo

I decided to change things up a bit for this post, so I let Christina (Lupo’s guardian) do the talking.  Who better to describe Lupo’s personality than his best pal!  Christina owns and operates Brandy’s Holistic Centre & Canine Cafe which I think is a great place to find quality pet food, and best of all...

The 6th Annual NDG Pet Fest 2011

I found out about this Pet Fest at the very last minute; but that didn’t stop me from scoping it out.  Any opportunity to be in the presence of pet lovers and their companions is utterly fantastic, especially in the city of Montreal.  This annual outdoor event brings together pet businesses, animal rescue groups, and of...

A Weekend at Wannamaker Lake, Ontario

Shelby and I spent this past weekend at Wannamaker Lake in the company of Annie and her boxer Roxy.  We were excited to spend a girl’s only weekend filled with conversation, doggie paddling, canoeing, fishing and plain old relaxing!  Unfortunately, this camping “haven”, as described on the website, did not meet some of our expectations.  The...

Chihuahua Meetup Group

Since I am a new proud momma of a 7 month-old Chihuahua, I want to make sure Shelby is well socialized with other dogs as well as humans.  I would be horrified if my sweet baby began to bark or growl at people and/or other dogs.  I’ve seen “The Dog Whisperer”;  I do not wish for my...

Introducing Porschia’s puppies!

As you may know, Porschia, my unofficial spokes-doggy (see the Facebook page profile pic!), had three puppies about two months ago.  I had an absolute blast photographing these rambunctious pups. It was a little chaotic with the incredibly gusty winds, synchronized bowel movements, and damage control but it worked out thankfully.  The little girl pup who loves to...

A new addition to the family

She’s a doe-eared, pint-sized, wiggle worm.  She loves to lick noses, squeaks when she barks and is easy to please.  She’s a 4-month old chihuahua who melts my heart everytime she looks at me with her expressive eyes.  Can you believe she is the first dog I’ve ever had!?  Potty training has been interesting; she...

Holiday pet photo shoot…the aftermath

I have to be honest, I was very nervous about this shoot. I had never done anything like this before, including working with auxiliary lighting, using props, and convincing my adorable canine subjects to sit and stay.  This was a challenge!  But I think, all in all, it was a success.  The biggest lessons learned: dehydrated liver...
